Hamlet, Cleveland Theater Company, Hathaway Brown Theater, Directed by Thomas Q. Fulton

This production, an AEA Project Code offering go up by Tom Fulton, and Andrew May, was the precursor to the soon to be formed Cleveland Theater Company, yet another semi-futile attempt to provide work for Cleveland-based professional actors. I came on board fairly late in the process. Allen Leatherman had been cast as Polonius, but got a job in Pittsburgh or somewhere for actual money and so fled the premises. Tom called me and, with a modicum of reluctance as my wife and family were in Chicago while she was working on her MDiv at Seabury-Western, I accepted the role. I remember leaving early (before curtain call) one night because I had to drive to Evanston in time for the Easter sunrise service in which Jamin, then in the third grade was playing in the bell choir. I had my priorities straight.

In any case, the production was enough of a success, that soon we found ourselves doing The Apple Tree at JCC in the Heights, and within a couple of years, CTC moved to CSU and, the rest, as they say...
