THE PHYSICISTS by Friedrich Duerrenmatt, Quons-Hut Theatre, March 1967
This is the show that began my lifelong fascination with the brilliant Swiss dramatist. A couple of years later, I appeared with G.W. Bailey in The Deadly Game at the Lubbock Theater Center. I was well on my way to a dissertation on him when Don Blakely, my advisor in graduate school passed on. Years later I took a crack at directing this one at CTC. Here are the three loonies. Jack Wells (center) as Einstein--killed shortly after on the way back from Spring break--and intense Paul Cronin as Johann Wilhelm Moebius. |
